The primary purpose of the Nevada Biodiversity Initiative (NBI) is to conserve the rich and diverse biological resources in the state. These resources include functional, healthy, and sustainable natural ecosystems, a full complement of native species, and sufficient genetic variation within these species to allow them to persist and evolve. We believe these goals can be accomplished in conjunction with human societal needs.

The NBI exists largely through the efforts of Nevada's senior senator, Harry Reid. Please send comments about the NBI to Senator Reid at: senator_reid@reid.senate.gov or to Biodiversity at: dtracy@biodiversity.unr.edu.
